Why Watch Ultra holds value, and Series 7 doesn't
Apple Watch resale value in UAE is driven by four levers, in order of impact:
- Generation. Each new Series knocks 18–25% off the previous year's models. Series 7 is now four generations old; offers are flat at AED 200–300 regardless of condition.
- Case size and material. 45mm and 49mm sell faster than 41mm in UAE. Titanium Ultra and Ultra 2 cases hold value exceptionally well — the resale curve is the flattest of any Apple device.
- Battery health. Below 80% battery capacity, the offer drops by AED 60–100. Apple's battery service runs AED 200–250 so replacing before sale is rarely the right call.
- Original bands and accessories. The original Apple band, charging puck, and box together add 6–10% to the offer. Third-party bands add nothing.
Should I sell now or wait?
Apple announces the new Watch Series every September. Sell 4–6 weeks before the announcement to capture peak residual value. If you have a Series 7 or older, the depreciation curve is flat — selling this month versus next quarter changes the offer by less than AED 2,000.

×0.85 of maxYou can feel minor scratches on the screen but can't easily see them, the body has light wear marks, everything functional. Battery between 75–85%. This is where most devices we buy fall — most owners are pleasantly surprised that their device qualifies as Good rather than Fair.
⚠️Fair
×0.65 of maxVisible screen scratches or small chips, some dents, battery below 75%, but all core functions work. Still worth a meaningful amount — Fair-grade iPhones from 2022 onward routinely fetch six-figure offers from us.
