Its 12MP Ultra Wide camera supports Center Stage, which keeps you in frame as you move around the desk. A three-microphone array picks up your voice clearly without a headset, and six speakers with Spatial Audio make calls and music sound far better than laptop speakers. Plug a MacBook in with one Thunderbolt cable and it charges, connects to the camera, microphones and speakers, and extends onto the 5K screen. For hot-desking or a home office shared by two people, that single cable makes switching laptops simple.

What tested and graded means for a used Studio Display

Every used Studio Display goes through a full screen pixel test in red, green, blue, white and black at native resolution on our Dubai Media City bench; any dead, stuck or hot pixel and the unit is rejected. Backlight uniformity is checked on a grey field, and visible cloudiness or bleed means the unit is fixed or rejected. The webcam is tested in FaceTime, the speakers at full volume, and the Thunderbolt port with a Mac and a MacBook charging through it. The display firmware is updated and it is unpaired from the previous owner's Mac.

The grade describes cosmetics only, because every unit has to pass the same checks to be sold. Grade A shows no marks at arm's length, Grade B has light wear such as faint scuffs, Grade C has visible marks on the case. The grade is photographed on the actual unit, not just described.

What you see before you pay for a used Studio Display

Before you pay for a used Studio Display we send, on WhatsApp, photos of the exact unit and its serial number. With them we give the glass type, the stand or VESA mount and the firmware version, the cosmetic grade and what is in the box. The serial matches the unit itself, so you can check it on Apple's coverage page before paying, and the photos show the unit you would receive rather than a stock image.

Battery disclosure on a used Studio Display

A Studio Display has no battery, so there is no battery screenshot to send, and we say so plainly rather than leaving it out. What we give instead is what matters for a monitor: photos of the panel lit on white, black and grey fields, so you can see the pixel and uniformity result for yourself before you pay.

The used Studio Display with its stand or VESA mount fitted, exactly as we describe it, and the Thunderbolt cable. The polishing cloth comes with nano-texture units when the previous owner kept it.
