The 14" M2 Pro (A2779) is the most-traded M2 MacBook Pro in our pipeline. It pairs the mini-LED ProMotion display, the redesigned chassis, and a chip that still outperforms most laptops sold today. Demand from freelance designers, video editors, and engineering students keeps prices firm — but the M5 Pro launched in late 2025, which has pulled M2 Pro values down by roughly 8–12% over the last six months. We expect another 5–8% drop after the M6 Pro announcement next September.

The 16" M2 Max (A2780) is rarer in our intake but commands the highest prices — the SoC is still competitive for video editors working in ProRes and 8K timelines. The base 13" M2 (which reused the older A2338 chassis) is the lowest-volume variant; most owners skipped it in favour of the M2 Pro 14".

1. Apple menu → About This Mac. The chip line will read "Apple M2", "Apple M2 Pro", or "Apple M2 Max".
2. Check the model row. "MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022)" = base M2 / A2338. "MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2023)" with M2 Pro chip = A2779. "MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2023)" with M2 Max = A2780.
3. Touch Bar? If yes, it's the base M2 13" — that was the last MacBook Pro to ship with the Touch Bar.

• Storage tier (biggest factor). 512GB is the entry point on M2 Pro/Max. 1TB adds roughly AED 250. 2TB adds AED 500–600. 4TB and 8TB are rare and command top-of-range pricing.
• Unified memory. 16GB is the floor for M2 Pro. 32GB adds AED 300–400 to the offer because pro buyers won't accept less. 64GB on M2 Max adds AED 600+.
• Battery cycle count. Under 200 doesn't change the offer. 200–500 is normal. Above 500 reduces by AED 60–100 because the buyer will want a battery replacement within 12 months.
• Keyboard, trackpad, speakers. Any sticky key, dead trackpad zone, or distorted speaker knocks AED 150–250 off — repairs on these models are expensive and buyers know it.
• Original 67W/96W/140W charger and box. Roughly 5–8% premium.

For the base M2 13": sell now if you've already upgraded. Prices are flat and only have downside risk from M6 announcements.

For the M2 Pro 14": this is the model with the most downside ahead. Sell within 30 days of deciding. The next M6 Pro will pull prices down another 5–8%.

For the M2 Max 16": hold if you're using it. Pro/Max chips depreciate slower than base chips. If you're not using it, sell — idle hardware loses value monthly.
